The story of Christian poetry by Bridgit Sullivan

I published this book a few years ago at the leading of God the Holy Spirit. The poems come directly from years of writing out my prayers in a journal. Some of them rhyme and some don’t but that is ok. These writings reflect my journey from sinner to follower of Jesus Christ and from new follower to called pastor. There are poems about redemption and poems about using your God the Holy Spirit giftedness for the work of building Christ’s kingdom.

I never expected to publish a book let alone one so personal. I am currently working on a new book for women in ministry again at the leading of God the Holy Spirit. I have the first three chapters done and am researching the next chapters as I pray. The first book was poetry and the second is more of a theology book. God can gift you to do anything and when you answer yes to His call you can do all things through Christ Jesus who strengthens you.  I am not a writer I am a scientist and a Christian. The poems are numbered and not named as I could not think of names for them.

The first poem is the most interesting to me. I have been baptized twice. Why twice? Because the first church never asked me to accept Jesus. The day after I was baptized I woke up and put pen to page and wrote the first poem. You will notice that the name of Jesus is not in the poem but rather a description of who He is and what He did. This poem started me on a journey to discover who was this man that I had written about.  I am still on a journey chasing the narrow road. This journey has taken me to places I never thought I would see. If anyone had told me as a kid that I would be where I am today I would have laughed at them. I chose the name HISPOETRY because I think of the poems as coming directly from the inspiration of God the Holy Spirit. I wrote some of these poems while praying in tongues as a direct interpretation.

Some of them I wrote while praying in English as  a direct interpretation of God’s will. Either way all of these poems were written under the guidance of God the Holy Spirit. All of these poems honor Jesus who is the eternal Christ as my Lord and Savior. Faith is a very personal journey in publishing this book I have chosen to share my journey with you the reader. May God bless you, keep you, and may you never doubt His love, in Jesus Name Amen.
